Book Reviews

This book takes a creative and unique approach to a hot topic in our society – the makeover. Many times, it’s the outside that gets all the attention, but Megan doesn’t stop with the visible. She helps women to learn to be their best on the outside, while also speaking an even greater message: true beauty and significance flow out of a vibrant and healthy relationship with God.

Glamour Girl: How To Get The Ultimate Makeover is a great “how-to” guide that will inspire women to be their best inside and out.

In her book, “Glamour Girl” Megan Mottley describes the true meaning of beauty, biblically speaking. In 1 Peter 3:3, Peter said, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment…v 4) Instead, it should be that of your inner self, of unfading beauty of the gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

Megan has strategically outlined all of the principles in the word of God, and in daily living, of how to reach the ultimate inward beauty. This read is a must for young ladies, and women who are seeking a deeper and closer relationship with our heavenly Father, and becoming all that He has destined for our lives.

If we want to live in The Blessing, we must do as the Lord instructs us in Isaiah 55, and exchange our thoughts for His thoughts. In her book, Megan takes the reader through a well-laid-out process of thought exchange. She brilliantly explains why God wants women to be kingdom thinkers—BIG thinkers—and not poor-minded worriers or women of shallow existence! Megan challenges, inspires, and ignites women to change their way of thinking and to start walking boldly in their purpose. For the woman who is ready to improve her relationships, heal her heart and reach total success, this is the right book for the journey! More than hope and inspiration, this book offers a template for victory and serves as a roadmap to move past previous blocks. Megan’s book is a “beauty tool” that every true Glamour Girl should have!

When I received Megan’s manuscript, Glamour Girl: How To Get The Ultimate Makeover, being a man, I felt a bit unqualified to objectively review what I at first assumed to be a book of “how to look beautiful” for women. As I began to read this work, I quickly discovered that God has given Megan a unique revelation of far more than the art of applying cosmetic aesthetics.

I have never seen a book of this kind. Megan brilliantly weaves in biblical truths as she defines the fundamentals of a basic makeover. Comparing and contrasting the steps of this process, and their spiritual correlations, such as cleansing, proper foundation, etc., is not only avant-garde; but even more, an absolutely relevant way to share the gospel with young women who live in a culture that worships the idol of image.

Megan incorporates the story of Esther and her flawless character that shined even brighter than her outward beauty, as she rose to the challenge of rescuing a nation from certain death. I was so touched by this work that I have made it a mandatory read for my 14 and 15 year old daughters, as it steps into the world they live in every morning as they get ready for school and speaks truth to them in a way that their father never could!

I am so proud of Megan and this book is a critical read for any female at any age!

Glamour Girl: How To Get The Ultimate Makeover cleverly strips off layers of self-doubt and, in many cases, self-loathing. In the process, it reveals how God sees us and how we should view ourselves. Megan Mottley uses scripture to apply a gentle cleanser that removes the residue of past imperfections and is safe for every complexion. The biblical stories apply just the right toner to enhance and brighten areas that have been darkened by life’s circumstances. The end product is an enlightened woman who is made over for God’s glory and good.
